Bradley Angle responds to PCL's decision to reverse funding and Willamette Week coverage:
Bradley Angle, the only standalone domestic violence organization in Oregon that is culturally specific for both Black/African American and LGBTQ2SIA+ survivors, is one of 36 organizations that had the rugged pulled out from under us when Portland City Council voted to remand the Portland Children's Levy dollars for the upcoming fiscal year.
From our Programs and Services Director, Tiffany Thomas-Guice, "Our Healing Roots and Kinship programs have worked in tandem for the past 6 years to support Black/African American survivors of domestic violence and their children with culturally-specific, supportive and relevant support to rebuild safety, stability and trust. We were relying on these funds to continue supporting these programs, the only ones of their kind, and were shocked to hear of the remand."
Our leadership, staff, and CEO have all reached out to the Portland City Council multiple times since the June 4th meeting, and have received zero communication in response. For a group of electeds that have demanded transparency and clarity from this process, we are disappointed that our organization, and the 35 other ones that have lost funding, are not able to have our voices heard by those that represent us.
